Russia and Ukraine held a new round of talks on Monday even as Moscow's forces pounded away at Kyiv and other cities across the country in what the Red Cross said has created "nothing short of a nightmare" for civilians. 

The talks ended without a breakthrough after several hours, with an aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying the negotiators took "a technical pause" and planned to meet again Tuesday.

Following a landslide victory in the recently held Punjab assembly elections 2022, Punjab chief minister-elect Bhagwant Mann resigned from the post of Sangrur MP today.

Mann will take the oath of office as Punjab chief minister on March 16 in Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral hamlet of legendary independence fighter Bhagat Singh.

In Covid related news, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday announced that the covid vaccination for children between 12-14 years will begin on March 16 and the comorbidity clause for administrating precautionary doses to senior citizens will also be removed. 

Biological E's Corbevax will be administered to the 12-14 years age group, according to a PTI report. 

The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) has recommended immunizing children between the ages of 12-14 years. 

After a massive victory in the assembly elections of four states, the BJP Parliamentary Board on Monday has appointed Central Observers and Co-Observers for the election of the Leader of the Legislature Party in the Legislative Assemblies of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. 

The names of Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh are also included in the list of observers, as reported by news agency ANI.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be the central observer for the appointment of the head of the legislative party in Uttar Pradesh, while former Uttarkhand CM Raghubar Das is the co-observer.

Rajnath Singh has been made the central observer for Uttarkhand, while MoS Meenakshi Lekhi is the co-observer.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been given the responsibility of Manipur, while Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has been made the co-observer.
