Body of Pakistani prisoner Shakar Ullah sent to Attari border, says Rajasthan Police

IG (Jail) Rupinder Singh said the body will be handed over to the authorities at the border in the presence of Pakistan's high commission officers.

Jaipur: The body of Pakistani prisoner Shakar Ullah who recently died in a physical altercation with fellow inmates was handed over to Pakistani authorities this evening.  Shakar Ullah (50), a member of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba succumbed to injuries on February 20. He was lodged in the Jaipur Central Jail since 2011 and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017 by a court under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). The body of the Pakistani prisoner was sent to Attari border at 5 pm Friday, Raj Kumar Sharma, SHO, Lal Kothi police station said. The body was kept at the SMS Hospital mortuary till February 28 after postmortem by a medical board, he said. Four inmates were arrested for killing the Pakistani national in the heavily-guarded barrack.  Reports say he was killed in a clash among inmates following a brawl over the choice of TV channel and its volume. A case was been registered with Lalkothi Police Station against four jail inmates - Ajit, Manoj, Kulvendra and Bhajan Meena - under section 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC. Shakar Ullah was a native of Sialkot in Pakistan. He was convicted under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in November 2017 and received a life term by a Jaipur court. IG (Jail) Rupinder Singh said the body will be handed over to the authorities at the border in the presence of Pakistan's high commission officers. At present, there are 16 Pakistani prisoners, five each in Jaipur and Bikaner, two in Jodhpur, three in Sriganganagar and one in Kota Jail. Pakistani prisoners remain in separate barracks and security arrangements have been enhanced further, NRK Reddy, Director General- Jail, said. (With additional information from PTI)
