New Delhi: One of the co-founders and a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani too joined the nation at large to pay reverence to late actor Irrfan Khan, who passed away at the age of 53 on Wednesday. The talented actor breathed his last in Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai, owing to a colon infection.


Advani expressed his condolences over the untimely death of Irrfan Khan and said he is deeply saddened to hear about the demise of the Bollywood legend whom he considered as one of the finest actors in the world of Indian Cinema.

The senior BJP leader also shared his experience of encounter with the gifted actor to which he said, "I had occasion to meet him some years back during the screening of filmmaker Mani Shankar’s film “Knockout” in Delhi. And subsequently, too, his performances in other films have greatly impressed me over the years".



Advani showed his grief and said his passing away is a great loss to the world of cinema. He paid his heartfelt tribute to his wife Smt Sutapa and all his family and friends.

"May his soul rest in peace", he added. The death of such an extraordinary actor comes as a jolt for all the fans leaving a void in the industry which will be difficult to fill given his prolific acting skills.

The 54-year actor has done incredible acting in many Bollywood movies besides leaving a mark in the international arena as well. Irrfan Khan is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons – Babil and Ayan.

It is the second tragedy for the family in less than a week. The Maqbool actor lost his mother, Saeeda Begum, in Jaipur just four days ago and could not attend the funeral because of the nationwide lockdown.
