New Delhi: BJP’s Nupur Sharma filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Police against AAP leader Alka Lamba for allegedly obstructing public servants from discharging their duties while dousing a raging fire in Chandni Chowk.




At least 30 fire tenders were deployed to douse off a fire that broke out inside a shop in the famous Chandni Chowk Market of the national capital on late Monday night. AAP MLA from the assembly constituency, Alka Lamba, arrived at the fire spot, which infuriated the shopkeepers. The shopkeepers alleged Lamba of impeding fire operations as she climbed onto a crane to take stock of the situation. The raging fire gutted 40 shops were gutted in the fire that began inside a shop located in the Moti Bazar area.


Nupur Sharma in her complaint said, “From the eyewitness accounts of shopkeepers and onlookers it can also be learnt that this stun and act of Ms. Alka Lamba hindered the Operations of firefighters and delayed the process thereby increasing the risk of spreading of the raging fire which could have resulted in greater loss to property as well as life. As can be heard from the eyewitnesses she did so solely for photo opportunities and made a complete drama of the whole unfortunate incident.”

No one was injured in the blaze. The cause of fire is suspected to be a short-circuit. Police is probing the incident.
