Tejashwi Yadav said that he will not promise one crore jobs. “I am promising 10 lakh jobs. I could have also promised one crore jobs just for the sake of the promise. But I am not doing that because this will become a reality in the first meeting of the Cabinet. This will be the first time in the country that 10 lakh employment opportunities will be created at one go. This figure is what we require in the state’s workforce at present."
Tejashwi also focused on receiving criticism for promising 10 lakh jobs and said, “People used to make fun that from where we will generate employment. Now, you must understand there is a difference between earning and employment. Here we are talking about government jobs,” Tejashwi Yadav said, explaining that there are employment opportunities for teachers, professors, junior engineers, doctors, nurses lab technicians. “ We need more police for the law and order of the state. Manipur is a smaller state but it has more police per lakh population than Bihar,” Tejashwi said.
Tejashwi Yadav said, "Unemployment the most important factor"
"I am a pure Bihari. My DNA is pure. If we come to power we will give jobs to 10 lakh youth at the first cabinet meeting," Yadav said, describing unemployment as "the most important factor".
Among other promises made were that the administration would bear travel expenses of candidates attending exams for government jobs. Twelve percent of the state budget would be spent on education and every panchayat will have one doctor and nurse on duty, the manifesto also said.
The controversial farm laws - which have triggered protests across the country - also found mention, with Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala (who was at the manifesto's launch) declaring that their government would repeal the laws if it came to power.
"If we form the government, under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav, we will pass a bill in the first Vidhan Sabha session to scrap the three anti-farm laws," Surjewala said, demanding that PM Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar answer to the state's farmers for loss of MSP (minimum support price).
The state is going to vote on October 28, November 3, and November 7, and the results will be announced on November 10.
