Soon after his exit from the RJD coalition, Nitish Kumar along with the leaders of JD(U), BJP, HAM and an Independent MLA met Governor Rajendra Arlekar and staked their claim to form the government in the state as he returned to the NDA fold bringing the curtains down on the 18-month government in the state.

Finally, putting to rest speculation of his political move, Nitish Kumar is likely to take oath once against as the Bihar Chief Minister with his two deputies from the BJP. The move has changed the political landscape for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls which saw the formation of the I.N.D.I.A bloc to take on the ruling BJP. The bloc also saw Nitish playing a pivotal role as reiterated

The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to be held at 5 in the evening, news agency ANI reported. BJP national president JP Nadda will arrive in Bihar later in the day and will be received at the airport by Union Minister Nityanand Rai and former state party president and MP Sanjay Jaiswal, the report added.

His return to the NDA fold was met with stern condemnation by the I.N.D.I.A bloc and the JDU hit back saying the bloc lacked plans to fight the BJP, while accusing the Congress of trying to control the group.

Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Owaisi said, "Nitish Kumar, Tesjaswi Yadav, PM Modi should apologise to the people of Bihar... All three have betrayed the people of Bihar, especially Nitish Kumar... The term political opportunism will be an understatement, Nitish Kumar has broken all records... I always said Nitish Kumar would go with BJP... I want to ask Tejaswi Yadav how does it feel? He took away four of our MLAs. Does he feel the same pain now? He has been played the same way he played us... Nitish Kumar will just be the face of RSS and Narendra Modi's governance in Bihar... Tejaswi Yadav and his family have sidelined the people of Bihar and their focus is to only have someone from among them to be the CM."

"Nitish Kumar wants to be the CM for as long as he lives. BJP just wants everything to themselves, by hook or by crook... The people of Bihar have been betrayed. There is no development in Bihar. Bureaucracy is on the rise in the state... AIMIM always said that political secularism is used to betray Indian Muslims. And now Muslims of Bihar have been betrayed again," he said.
