As the Congress and RJD brace for a shake-up in Bihar, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has said the I.N.D.I.A bloc  was considering Nitish Kumar to fight the BJP till the end. This comes as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to resign soon as take oath as the chief minister with BJP's support after snapping ties with its current ally RJD in the state.

Jairam Ramesh told news agency ANI, "Nitish Kumar called the first meeting of 18 opposition parties in Patna on 23rd June 2023. The second meeting was held in Bengaluru on 17th-18th July 2023.  Then again on 31st August-1st September in Mumbai. Nitish Kumar played a prominent role in all three meetings, so we were considering Nitish Kumar to fight the BJP and its ideology till the very end."

Speaking on the opposition bloc, he said, "INDIA alliance is strong. There are a few speed breakers here and there. But we will unitedly fight against the BJP... All parties- DMK, NCP, TMC, and SP will fight together."

An official told PTI that government offices, including the secretariat, had been ordered to remain open on Sunday "in view of hectic activity expected during the day."

Meanwhile, BJP legislative party meeting is underway at the state party office as Nitish Kumar along with JDU leaders go into a huddle at his residence.

The upheaval in the state had kept people guessing about Nitish Kumar's next move as the eight-time chief minister is famous for his political U-turns which also earned him the 'Paltu Ram' moniker. While the BJP is set to welcome Kumar, the opposition was up in arms against his decision to returnBihar to the saffron fold after being a prominent face of the I.N.D.I.A bloc. Last time after he switched sides, he said he vowed to never again join hands with the BJP.
