Katihar: An inexplicable incident has come to light in Pastia village of Baghoda panchayat in Bihar’s Katihar district where more than Rs 960 crore was found in the accounts of two school children.

This incident left the people of the entire village astonished as they tried to meet the two children and their families to know how so much money came to the accounts.

In fact, the two children having their accounts in Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank went to check the amount to be received directly for clothes from the state government.

The Customer Service Point (CSP) operator too was surprised to see such a huge amount of money in the accounts of the two children.

This news spread like fire in the entire area following which the people made long queues at the bank’s CSP to get their accounts checked.

The amount for clothes of the children studying in government schools is transferred by the Bihar government through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to their accounts.

In this regard, the two children - Guruchandra Vishwas and Nitai Kumar Vishwas - went to check the bank balance earlier on Wednesday, but the CSP operator and the villagers were surprised to see such a huge amount in their accounts.

According to reports, the two children have their accounts in the Bhelaganj branch of Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank.

According to the CSP operator, more than Rs 60 crores was deposited in the account of Guruchandra Vishwas and more than Rs 900 crores in the account of Nitai Kumar Vishwas.

Vinod Vishwas, the father of Guruchandra Vishwas, informed that the entire money in his son’s account has been withdrawn.

He, however, demanded the Bihar government to return more than Rs 200, which was already there in the account.

Though, an amount of more than Rs 60 crores is still present in the account of the other child, which has not yet been withdrawn.

Katihar District Magistrate Udayan Mishra said that somebody informed him over the phone with regard to this incident.

“In such a situation, the branch manager was asked to take out the statement of the two accounts after the bank opened on Thursday morning. At that time, the bank balance of the children was only Rs 100,” he said.

The District Magistrate further said the branch manager informed him that there was some software error.

“That much money was not deposited in the account. But now it has been fixed. The balance that was normal is now showing. There is nothing like this,” he added.
