Patna: Soon after announcing the seats sharing formulae for Bihar Elections 2020, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its first list of candidates who would contest the crucial Assembly elections on its ticket. The first list names as many as 27 candidates for the seats going for polls in the first phase on October 28. Among the prominent names, is an international shooter Shreyasi Singh, who has recently joined the BJP. She has been given a ticket from the Jamui constituency. All the 27 candidates are for the first phase elections in Bihar in which 71 seats of 243-member assembly will go to polls.


Other names in the list include former MP Hari Manjhi, who will contest the Bihar Assembly Elections from Bodhgaya, Virendra Singh from Birganj, Ramadhar Singh from Aurangabad and Satyanarayan Singh Yadav from Dihri.

Earlier in the day, the NDA announced its seat-sharing agreement for the Bihar Assembly Elections under which CM Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal United (JDU) will contest on 122 seats whereas BJP on 121 seats.

Of JDU's 122 seats, 7 have been given to Jitan Ram Majhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) under the seat-sharing agreement.

Addressing a press conference in Patna, CM Nitish Kumar also said that BJP will allot seats to Vikassheel Insaan Party under their quota. Talks regarding the same are underway.

Several leaders including Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal, BJP Bihar in-charge Bhupendra Yadav, BJP's Bihar poll in-charge Devendra Fadnavis, JD-U state chief Vashisht Narayan Singh and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi were present at the joint press meet.

In what came as a shocker and a jolt to the ruling dispensation, NDA snubbed Chirag Paswan's LJP from the alliance after the later's rebellion came out in public over the last few months.

While referring to Chirag Paswan and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Nitish Kumar said that some people have it in their nature to object to work done by the ruling party.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi said that NDA has four alliance partners - JDU, BJP, HAM and VIP.
