The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced the names of the National Working Committee members on Saturday (July 8). The committee included prominent leaders such as Satish Poonia and Bandi Sanjay. Suresh Kahsyap, Sanjay Jaiswal, Vishnu Dev Sahay, Dharamlal Kaushik, Ashwini Sharma, Somvir Raju, and Kirori Lal Meena were among those who joined them.

Bandi Sanjay, who recently made headlines for expressing doubts about attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, caught the Prime Minister's attention during a meeting in Warangal. Sanjay's impassioned speech, which targeted Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the BRS's rule in Telangana, made an impression on party leaders.

Satish Poonia, a first-term MLA, quickly established himself as a prominent figure in state politics, particularly as a Jat face. He was the BJP's state president for three and a half years before handing over the position to CP Joshi. As per media reports, at that time, some BJP leaders were taken aback by Poonia's appointment, questioning his political experience.

During his tenure, he quickly demonstrated his leadership abilities, expertly guiding the party unit through the challenges posed by the first wave of the pandemic in 2020. Poonia was recognised for successfully shifting the party's focus from hardcore political activities to social work.

The announcement of Satish Poonia and Bandi Sanjay's inclusion in the National Working Committee comes at a crucial time as Rajasthan gears up for the upcoming assembly elections, scheduled to be held later this year. The choice of these leaders suggests that the BJP is strategically positioning itself for the electoral battle, capitalising on their regional clout and political savvy to gain a strong foothold in the state.
