New Delhi: In West Bengal, the bypoll war for three assembly seats has intensified. Bhabanipur seat is being discussed the most, as TMC would be represented by none other than West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee here. Meanwhile, BJP has alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has not mentioned pending criminal cases in her nomination papers for the bypolls to Bhabanipur assembly seat. The BJP has lodged an official complaint with the Election Commission about it.

Priyanka Tibrewal, a lawyer by profession, would be representing BJP in the bypolls for the Bhabanipur Assembly seat. BJP's candidate for Bhabanipur constituency, Priyanka Tibrewal, has written to the returning officer questioning the authenticity of nomination documents filed by TMC candidate and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Three assembly seats in West Bengal, including Bhabanipur, are scheduled to hold elections on September 30. The results for these elections are scheduled to be announced on October 3.

Bhabanipurseat is considered to be a stronghold for Mamata Banerjee. However, earlier this year she had contested for the Assembly elections from the Nandigram seat, which she lost to Shubhendu Adhikari of BJP.

Later, Shobhandev Chattopadhyay of TMC, who had won from the Bhabanipur seat, abdicated the seat. This led to the Election Commission announcing bypolls for this seat. Mamata Banerjee has now decided to fight elections from this seat. At present, Mamata Banerjee is not a member of any House.

According to regulations, Mamata would have to become a member of the state assembly before November 5 or step down. The Congress has not fielded any of its candidate for the Bhabanipur seat. The CPI(M) has fielded Advocate Srijib Biswas for the seat.
