Bengaluru Cafe Blast: 4 Accused Detained For Questioning As Probe Underway — Report

Four people were reportedly detained in connection with the low-intensity bomb blast at Bengaluru's Rameshwarm cafe and are being questioned by the Central Crime Branch officials.

Four accused on Saturday were reportedly nabbed in connection with the low-intensity bomb blast at Bengaluru's Rameshwarm cafe. They are being questioned by the sleuths of the Central Crime Branch who are probing the blast case. According to the police sources cited by news agency PTI, they were picked up from Hubballi, Dharwad, and Bengaluru at length.

The blast occurred around 1 pm at the famous eatery's Whitefield branch located in the city's Rajajinagar area.

Bengaluru City Commissioner B Dayananda is investigating the incident which was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device, injuring ten people."Several teams are working on different leads obtained so far," he said, as quoted by PTI.    

"Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case and the security concerns, media is appealed not to indulge in speculation and co-operate," Dayananda added.

Following the blast, security has been tightened across the state, especially at Kempegowda International Airport after the incident in East Bengaluru's Brookefield area in the Information Technology corridor, PTI reported.

Delhi Police Beefs Up Security After Bengaluru Cafe Blast

Delhi Police stated that it has tightened security in the capital following the Rameshwaram cafe blast incident. DCP Sahdara Surender Chaudhary stated that the security forces are conducting tenant-servant verifications, holding meetings with RWA and MWA, and engaging in patrolling by foot. 

"Apart from this, we checked parking lots and malls, patrolled markets, performed periodic checks, monitored vehicles, and used CCTV cameras and drones," news agency ANI quoted him saying.

The Bengaluru Police has registered a case under sections 16, 18, and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Substances Act in connection with the explosion. In addition to this, the police have also filed an FIR under sections 307 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah visited the Brookfield Hospital to meet the people injured in the blast. He also announced that the state government would bear all the medical expenses of the injured.

Deputy CM DK Shivkumar stated that the Central Crime Branch is conducting an inquiry with the help of 7-8 groups to trace the culprit.
