Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates has been in India for some time. On Friday, Gates called upon Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw. He had a discussion with the Union Minister about India’s AI ecosystem and how it can be used to improve health, agriculture, and education. Prior to this, the Microsoft CEO also discussed a range of issues with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik related to the welfare of farmers, development initiatives taken by the government for farmers and the use of AI for them.
After the meeting, Bill Gates tweeted, "I met with Ashwini Vaishnaw to talk about India’s AI ecosystem and how it can be used to improve health, agriculture, and education. India’s digital public infrastructure journey is a fantastic model for emerging economies. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation hopes to support the Indian government’s initiatives to build open, secure, and interoperable systems that are inclusive and create strong digital economies."
Bill Gates Honoured With KISS Humanitarian Award
During his visit to Odisha, Bill Gates was honoured with the highest award of KIIT and KISS fraternity — the KISS Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic work in 2023.
KIIT, KISS & KIMS founder Achyuta Samanta while presenting Gates with this award said, “Awarding Bill Gates with the KISS Humanitarian Award not only honours his exceptional contributions but also elevates the prestige of this recognition. His acceptance sets a new benchmark for humanitarian work globally. It is a profound honour for us that Bill Gates is joining the esteemed roster of our awardees.”
He also visited a slum and interacted with the people there.
