TMC's  attack on Mithun Chakraborty for joining BJP

When Mithun Chakraborty joined BJP, senior Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy said, "Mithun was a star, but now he is not." He was originally a Naxalite. He joined the CPM, then joined the TMC and became a Rajya Sabha MP. BJP showed him the fear of ED, and then he left Rajya Sabha. Now he joined BJP. ”Saugata Roy said that now he has no credibility. Neither do they have any influence among the people.

At the same time, TMC spokesman Kunal Ghosh said, "Big actors are associated with many production houses. Mithun Chakraborty is also doing the same, moving from one party to another." Ghosh said that as Chakraborty has said that he wants to work for the people, he should say something against the fuel price hike.

Senior CPI leader Sujan Chakraborty said that people will never trust 'defectors' like Chakraborty and his joining the saffron party will not have any impact on elections.

The actor was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by West Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee in 2014. Mithun Chakraborty, however, resigned as a Rajya Sabha MP on December 26, 2016.

Mithun Chakraborty joining BJP is yet another significant step by the saffron party as it attempts to dethrone CM Mamata Banerjee let TMC government in the state amid the fierce 'Battle For Bengal' in the upcoming 8-phase assembly polls.
