BJP West Bengal will be holding a four-day state-wide protest against the vaccine scam in Kolkata. The protest in the state’s capital will take place on July 15.

Kicking off at Alipore Petrol Pump at 12 p.m. on July 15, the rally will converge at Alipore DM office.

The protest will be against a fake vaccination racket allegedly managed by a man, named Debanjan Deb, who posed as an IAS official.

He was busted by Kolkata Police in June. Over 800 people were misled into taking the fake vaccines, including TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty.

The scam triggered a political brawl between the TMC and the BJP. While the BJP has claimed that Deb had ties to senior TMC figures, the TMC has denied the allegations.

Previously, BJP held a similar protest in Central Kolkata on July 4, despite being denied permission by Kolkata Police to maintain COVID regulations.

Bidhannagar Police had detained Bengal BJP Chief Spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya and leader Archana Majumdar for protesting against the state government’s misgovernance and clashed with the police.

All party leaders including MP will be leading protests in their areas and constituencies.
