Lucknow: The Azamgarh University will be named after Maharaja Suheldev, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said.


Adityanath said that his government is not only committed to promote spiritual tourism in the state but will also focus on developing sites of historical importance.


“Before 2017, there used to be riots, now no one dares to walk openly inside Uttar Pradesh,” he added.


The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, who was speaking at the concluding session of two-day DD Conclave, said there is zero tolerance policy for crime and criminal in the state.


Adityanath laid emphasis on a massive campaign in honour of “women and daughters”.


The Chief Minister also spoke about the arrangements made to tackle the surge in Covid-19 cases.


Adityanath said Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited vaccine manufacturing companies in different places of the country during the corona period as well as inspired and encouraged the scientists.




“500 new oxygen plants installed in the state to fight Covid-19…The state has become self-sufficient in the matter of oxygen,” he added.


Uttar Pradesh earlier on Friday reported 4,228 new Covid cases, taking the number of active cases in the state to 12,327, and one death.


The fatality, according to a health department bulletin, was reported from Maharajganj district, bringing the death toll from the Covid pandemic to 22,918 in the state, PTI reported.


Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow on Friday reported 577 new Covid-19 cases.


Meanwhile, fresh Covid-19 cases continued to emerge as India recorded 1,41,986 cases on Saturday.


There have been 40,895 recoveries and 285 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the government data.
