At MP Rally, Rahul Gandhi Promises Monthly Transfer Of Rs 8,500 To Women To Make Them 'Lakhpati'

Rahul Gandhi batted for caste census, claiming it will reveal 'everything about the status of people and change the direction of politics in the country'.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the ongoing Lok Sabha election is aimed at saving the country's Constitution, which he claimed the BJP and RSS want to change. While addressing a public gathering at Jobat town in Alirajpur district under the Ratlam-Jhabua Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh, Rahul said, if voted to office, the I.N.D.I.A bloc will ensure the 50 per cent cap on reservation is removed in the interest of the people.

The former Congress president again batted for the caste census, claiming it will reveal everything about the status of people and change the direction of politics in the country, reported news agency PTI.

"This election is being held to save the country's Constitution. The BJP, RSS want to change it, but the Congress and the (Opposition) I.N.D.I.A alliance are trying to save it," Gandhi said.

Congress Govt Will Launch 'Pehli Naukri Pakki': Rahul

Continuing his criticism against the ruling party, Rahul Gandhi said, "The BJP gave the slogan of 400-paar (target of more than 400 Lok Sabha seats for the NDA) with an intention to change the Constitution."

The Congress, he added, will launch the 'Pehli Naukri Pakki' scheme, aimed at empowering the youth by providing them with one-year apprenticeships in companies, followed by assured employment opportunities. Under this initiative, participants will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 8,500 during the training period, totaling to Rs 1 lakh over the course of a year.

The Wayand MP also said his party, if voted to power, will start transferring Rs 8,500 per month into the accounts of women to make them "lakhpati", PTI reported.

The Congress has fielded former Union minister Kantilal Bhuria against BJP's Anita Nagar Chauhan from the tribal-dominated Ratlam-Jhabua seat where polling will be held on May 13.
