Assam police have lifted restrictions on movements of vehicles going in Meghalaya on Sunday, reported ANI. The decision has been taken considering the improvement in the law and order situation in Meghalaya which got affected after a firing incident that killed six individuals on Tuesday.
DCP Guwahati Sudhakar Singh said that all the vehicles have been allowed to enter Meghalaya.
"We have allowed all vehicles to enter into Meghalaya," said Sudhakar Singh, as per ANI.
Earlier, travel restrictions among other prohibitory orders were in place in the state for the last five days after the firing incident. An advisory by the Assam Police asked people to avoid travelling to the neighbouring state too.
Internet services were shut down in Meghalaya on Saturday once again for 48 hours.
The incident took place on Tuesday when the Assam Forest department team intercepted and stopped the truck at Mukru area carrying illegal timber. The truck was going towards the West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya around 3 am. This led to the firing from both sides that killed six persons, including an Assam forest guard.

Post the incident, internet services were suspended in the area for 48 hours.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has already ordered an investigation into the firing incident and the state government also announced to provide Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the six deceased persons.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday moved the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) over the loss of lives in firing by Assam officers at the inter-state border.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), CM Sangma, along with deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong, met NHRC chairperson justice Arun Kumar Mishra and its other members in New Delhi.
