Guwahati: In a rare turn of events, a woman police official of the Assam police filed an FIR and arrested her own finace of charges fraud. According to reports, Junmoni Rabha, who is serving as a Sub-Inspector in Nagaon district, arrested her finace after she came to know about alleged crimes committed by him. Rabha has been in a relation with the accused, identified as Rana Pogag for over a year and got engaged with him last October.
Speaking about the matter, an Assam Police official told news agency PTI that the accused had reportedly falsely claimed to be a Public Relations Officer of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.
Under the garb of being a PSU employee, he has alleged duped many people of lakhs of rupees by promising them to provide jobs in the ONGC.
As many as 11 fake seals of ONGC and many incriminating documents including fake identity cards very recovered by Police from Pogag's home.
Both Rabha and Pogag were planning to get married in November this year.
Rabha, while talking to the media, said that she and Pogag had ceremonially got engaged in October last year and planned to hold the marriage ceremony in November this year.
Even earlier this year, Rabha had hit headlines after a telephonic conversation of her with Bihpuria MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan got leaked on social media. According to reports, the MLA had allegedly asked her along with another Assam cop not to harass the people of his constituency.
The fearless cop, however, refused to bow down and instead asked the lawmaker about breaking the rules and regulations set by the government.
Even Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took cognisance of the matter and directed the MLA to refrain from such incidents in the future.
