All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi called Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Kashmir policy "a failure". He also questioned the Centre's discussions surrounding delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir on how they intend to do it and on what basis will it be done.
Asaduddin Owaisi said: "Delimitation has been talked about in PM Modi's (Narendra Modi) meeting. What kind of delimitation is this? How will you do it? Will you do it on the basis of population or geographical area? Your Kashmir policy has failed."
On June 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the prominent leaders of Jammu and Kashmir in Delhi. After the meeting, all the leaders had said that the talks were held in a good atmosphere.
Later, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah had said that they didn't accept delimitation, elections, and then statehood (in this particular order). Omar Abdullah said, "we want delimitation first, then statehood, and then elections."
Ghulam Nabi Azad spoke there on behalf of all of us and said that we don't agree with this timeline. We don't accept delimitation, elections, and statehood (in this order). We want delimitation first, followed by statehood, and then elections. If elections have to be held, return the state's status first. We will talk about elections after that."
