Arvind Kejriwal breathes fire on BJP after chilly powder attack; Says political rivals want to kill me

Arvind Kejriwal has alleged that the attack on him at the state secretariat on November 20 was nothing but an attempt on his life conspired by powerful people.

New Delhi: A day after a man smeared chilli powder on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has alleged that the attack on him at the state secretariat on November 20 was nothing but an attempt on his life conspired by powerful people. Kejriwal said this while speaking to reporters on Wednesday outside his office in the Delhi Secretariat. He also claimed that this was for the fourth time that an attack like this was made on him in a span of 2 years. “I have been attacked four times in two years, and it's no minor issue. These attacks aren't taking place, they're being ordered because we have become an obstacle and they want me to die,” Kejriwal said. Even the Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership of planning the attack. 40-year-old Anand Sharma attacked Delhi CM and smeared red chilly power on his face, while the later was leaving his third-floor chamber in the Delhi Secretariat complex on Tuesday afternoon. Sharma initially came forward to touch Kejriwal’s feet and then suddenly pounced to wipe chilly power on his face. AAP said that Kejriwal escaped unhurt as he was wearing glasses. Sharma’s Facebook page identifies him as a BJP Activist. After the attack, AAP convenor said that the continuous attacks made on him are attempt by the powerful people to stop as they are not able to replicate the achievement made by the AAP government in Delhi over the period of time. “People have started asking them that if we can waive electricity, then why can't they? People are questioning them on various things,” he said. However, the Delhi CM asserted that such attacks will not stop him and his government in working towards the welfare of people, because he has dedicated his life to India. “I want to tell the youth that AAP is not a party, it is the fight for Independence 2.0. These parties have destroyed the nation, and we have to fix it again,” he said. Sharma was arrested on Tuesday and was interrogated jointly by the local police, Special Cell and Intelligence Bureau. During interrogation, he claimed that he had tried to meet Mr Kejriwal one-and-a-half-years ago but after he could not meet him, he broke the glass panes in the reception area of Delhi Secretariat. Police said they will be verifying his claims and are further probing the matter. However, on the other hand, BJP alleged that the attack on Kejriwal was “scripted” by his party and that it was its “modus operandi” before every election to gain “sympathy”.
