A man reportedly took the lives of his two children before ending his own in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The incident took place in Thota Subbarao Nagar at Bhu Devi Apartments, where 35-year-old Vanapalli Chandra Kishore, employed as an assistant accountant at ONGC in Vakalapudi, lived with his family.
Chandra Kishore allegedly tied the hands of his two sons—Joshil, 7, and Nikhil, 6—before submerging their heads in water-filled buckets, resulting in their deaths. He later died by suicide by hanging himself. A note left behind by Chandra Kishore reportedly revealed his anxiety about his children’s future, suggesting he felt they would struggle in an increasingly competitive world.
Originally from Tadepalligudem in the West Godavari district, Kishore had recently relocated to Kakinada with his wife, Tanuja, and their two sons. Concerned about his children's education, he had changed their school, hoping for better academic outcomes, as per a report on AP7AM. However, reports suggest he remained worried about their prospects.
On the day of the tragic incident, the family had participated in Holi celebrations at Kishore’s workplace. Later in the evening, he told his wife he was taking the children to a tailor to get their school uniforms measured. However, as they did not return home, she went to the home to check and found the door locked from inside. When she peeped into the window, she found her husband hanging and her children unresponsive in buckets of water. The overwhelming shock caused her to collapse.
The authorities have launched a thorough investigation, collecting evidence and reviewing the suicide note to piece together the circumstances that led to this heartbreaking event.
