New Delhi: Some familiar scenes of long queues outside liquor shops have been witnessed on Monday as the Delhi government announced a 6-day lockdown to tackle the Coronavirus surge within the national capital.


Meanwhile, a Delhi woman's video advocating for the consumption of liquor over medicine is going viral.

A woman who came to buy liquor at a shop in Shivpuri Geeta Colony talked to the media, saying: "I have come to purchase (liquor) because the injection will not benefit has as much as this alcohol. The more these people drink, the better they will be (in health)".



"Alcoholics will be impacted. Medicines will not help us as much as the peg. I have been drinking for 35 years and I have not taken any other dose. 1 peg every day, that is my daily dose.


She goes on to say that the "thekaas" should remain open amid the week-long lockdown. "We have been saved from going to the hospital and will remain so this way," she adds.


As expected, the video has gone viral and is garnering a lot of reactions from users who are sharing funny memes.







 


Even though, her claims of liquor acting better than medicines are completely unfounded, the lady has certainly given netizens their due dose of entertainment for the day amid stressful Covid times.


As for the lockdown, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that all private offices will Work From Home for the coming 6 days and government offices will be open. Essential services will be exempted from the restrictions.


He has urged migrant workers to not leave the national capital, assuring them that the lockdown will not be extended further.
