Ahead Of Festive Season, Section 144 Invoked For Two Months In Noida

The administration asked the residents to maintain peace and law and order in area.

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the festive season, Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration on Thursday imposed Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code for two months in Noida area, prohibiting an assembly of four or more people at one place. The public gatherings were banned in the district in order effect to maintain law & order situation during the coming festival season including Bakrid, Janmashtami, and Independence Day. The order by the administration prohibits the usage of any amplifier, loudspeaker, and similar instruments. The city administration has asked the residents to maintain peace and law and order. Violation of this can result in a sentence of one year. Violation of this leads to action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. Last year in February, Upper District Magistrate Noida had imposed Section 144 imposed in Gautam Budh Nagar for 2 months in effect to maintain law & order situation during Republic Day celebrations and board exams of ICSC & CBSE board keeping in view several protests being organized in the district.
