New Delhi: As protests against the Central government’s Agnipath recruitment scheme continue unabated, various Union Ministries have announced job opportunities for the Agniveers after their four-year term ends.
10% Vacancies For CAPFs & Assam Rifles Recruitment:
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to reserve 10 percent vacancies for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles for Agniveers, completing four years under the Agnipath scheme.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) decides to reserve 10% vacancies for recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles for Agniveers,” the Home Minister’s Office said in a series of tweets.
“The MHA also decides to give 3 years age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit to Agniveers for recruitment in CAPFs & Assam Rifles. Further, for the first batch of Agniveer, the age relaxation will be for 5 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit,” the Home Minister’s Office wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
10% Reservation Coast Guard, Defence Civilian & 16 DPSUs:
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal to reserve 10% of the job vacancies in the ministry for Agniveers meeting requisite eligibility criteria.
“Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh has approved a proposal to reserve 10% of the job vacancies in Ministry of Defence for ‘Agniveers’ meeting requisite eligibility criteria,” the Defence Minister’s Office tweeted.
The 10% reservation will be implemented in the Indian Coast Guard, defence civilian posts and all the 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings - Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Limited, Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL), Mishra Dhatu Nigam (Midhani) Limited, Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), Advanced Weapons & Equipment India Ltd. (AW&EIL), Munitions India Limited (MIL), Yantra India Limited (YIL), Gliders India Limited (GIL), India Optel Limited (IOL) and Troop Comforts Limited (TCL).
This reservation would be in addition to existing reservations for ex-servicemen.
The Defence Ministry in a statement said necessary amendments to relevant recruitment rules will be undertaken to implement these provisions, adding the DPSUs will be advised to make similar amendments to their respective recruitment rules.
The Defence Ministry further said necessary age relaxation provision will also be made to enable recruitment of the Agniveers to the above posts.
Shipping Ministry Announces Attractive Opportunities :
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways announced six attractive service avenues for smooth transition of Agniveers in various roles of the Merchant Navy post their stint with the Indian Navy.
The ministry in a statement said this scheme will enable the Agniveers to acquire necessary training, with rich naval experience and professional certification to join the remunerative merchant navy across the world.
The Directorate General of Shipping, a Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways organization, announced the provisions in Maharashtra capital Mumbai today.
Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision through the transformative Agnipath scheme is an attempt that the profile of Indian armed forces remains youthful.
“They will be adaptive to newer technologies & prepare them through their stint with our world class Indian Navy to secure a lucrative career in the global merchant navy. We are working with Indian Navy to bridge the gap of skilled man force in the merchant navy through these schemes,” Sonowal said speaking on the scheme.
“It will help our Agniveers to get transited in the shipping sector and build an enticing career in merchant navy by contributing immensely through their rich skills and experience to the Indian marine economy,” he added.
Civil Aviation Ministry Announces Job Avenues:
The Ministry of Civil Aviation also announced job avenues for Agniveers post their career in the Indian armed forces.
“Civil Aviation is looking forward to inducting the highly skilled, disciplined and motivated #Agniveers into its various services and give them wings to fly,” the ministry tweeted.
