New Delhi: After installing Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia as general secretaries for Uttar Pradesh’s eastern and western regions respectively, Rahul Gandhi is most likely to appoint two presidents, instead of one, for the party’s state unit.

As per Congress sources, the party is framing strategies to devote all of its power in the state. Within the party, the likeability of getting seats in the SP/BSP alliance is not being denied, but preparations to go through the battle alone are also in full swing, sources claimed.  As a part of this, party president Rahul Gandhi has proposed the senor leaders of party to select two presidents instead of one for the party’s UP unit. The reason behind is that it would be an uphill task for a single head to manage the work of two general secretaries.

As of now, actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar is the president of party’s Uttar Pradesh unit, but if the sources are to be trusted then , Rahul may appoint one more president soon. It is however, yet to be decided whether Babbar will retain his post of UPCC president, or whether two fresh names will be included. Apart from this, two deputies shall also be appointed under each of the presidents.

There is one such section in the party that believes Samajwadi Party will have to share some seats from its quota with Congress, after Priyanka enters politics in a fully fledged manner. It is yet to be seen whether SP chooses to compromise its seat under Priyanka’s cogency or how beneficial does Priyanka’s political plunge proves for the Congres in case it goes it alone in the polls.
