After Nupur Sharma, Delhi Police Name AIMIM's Owaisi & Yati Narasimhananda In FIR For Spreading Hate
This comes amid the row over the suspension of BJP leader Nupur Sharma for her alleged controversial religious remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police have named AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi named in FIR filed by its IFSO unit over alleged inflammatory remarks. The police have registered a case under various provisions against those who were allegedly spreading messages of hate, inciting various groups, and creating situations that are detrimental to the maintenance of public tranquility.
Swami Yati Narasimhananda's name has also been mentioned in the FIR, according to an ANI report.
This comes amid the row over the suspension of BJP leader Nupur Sharma for her alleged controversial religious remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.
"The police have registered an FIR against multiple individuals cutting across religions and will investigate their roles on various social media entities in promoting false information with an intention to create unrest in cyberspace having ramifications on the physical space, thereby compromising with the social fabric of the country," Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) official told ANI.
According to the police, some names that were included in the FIR are Nupur Sharma, Naveen Kumar Jindal, Shadab Chauhan, Saba Naqvi, Maulana Mufti Nadeem, Abdur Rehman, Gulzar Ansari, Anil Kumar Meena, and Pooja Shakun.
The Delhi police have registered two FIRs after social media analysis. The cases have been registered against those who were posting & sharing messages against the maintenance of public tranquility and were inciting people on the basis of various divisive lines
The police further said that the sections of the cases are 153, 295, 505 IPC. They have filed one case against Nupur Sharma and others one has been registered against multiple social media entities based on the analysis. The police will be sending notices to the social media intermediaries for the details.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Tuesday said that it has provided security to suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma after an FIR was registered on a complaint that she was getting death threats following her controversial religious remarks.
