New Delhi: After 33 members were suspended from Lok Sabha, several Rajya Sabha MPs were suspended for the remainder of the Winter Session of the Parliament after they created a ruckus inside the Upper House over the Parliament security breach incident.

This comes after 33 Opposition MPs were suspended from Lok Sabha earlier today.

The suspended MPs from Rajya Sabha include Congress' Jairam Ramesh, Randeep Surjewala, and KC Venugopal, TMC's Sukhendu Sekhar Ray and Santanu Sen, and RJD's Manoj Kumar Jha.

Opposition MPs staged a protest on the stairs to the Parliament. 33 MPs from Lok Sabha and 34 from Rajya Sabha were suspended today.

Meanwhile, the matter of suspension of 3 MPs from Lok Sabha and 11 from Rajya Sabha has been sent to the Privilege Committee.

On the suspension of himself and several opposition MPs from the Rajya Sabha, KC Venugopal said, "The House is functioning with only one purpose that is to suppress the entire voice of the opposition and to suspend maximum people, those who are raising the issues of the people and security...Now Parliament is for the suspension of the opposition MPs, not for debate and discussion."

Meanwhile, the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal said that Congress and its allies insulted the Lok Sabha speaker and Rajya Sabha chairperson with their conduct.

Earlier, 33 opposition MPs, including Congress leader Adhir Ranjan, TMC's Saugata Roy and Kalyan Banerjee, and DMK's TR Baalu, A Raja, and Dayanidhi Maran were suspended from Lok Sabha for the remaining part of the winter session for "misconduct" and not obeying the directions of the Chair.
