New Delhi: A week after announcing a 10 percent reservation for the ex-Agniveer in Border Security Force (BSF), the Union Home Ministry has now announced a similar reservation in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), reported PTI.
According to PTI, the announcement was made through a notification after amending the rules made under the Central Industrial Security Force Act, 1968, (50 of 1968).
"Ten percent of the vacancies shall be reserved for ex-Agniveers," the notification said, quoted PTI.
The ministry, through a notification, stated that ex-Agniveers will now get a 10 percent reservation in CISF vacancies. The order further stated relaxation in the upper age limit depending on whether the recruits are part of the first batch or subsequent batches of Agniveers.
The Centre said that the upper age limit shall be relaxable up to five years for candidates of the first batch of former Agniveers and up to three years for candidates of other batches.
The notification also mentioned an exemption from the physical efficiency test for the ex-Agniveers, similar to the BSF reservation announcement.
Agnitpath Scheme
The BJP-led Central government on June 14 last year had unveiled the ambitious Agnipath scheme to recruit youths aged between 17-and-a-half and 21 in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, for a period of four years. The recruits under the scheme are known as Agniveers.
Centre had said that a fourth of the recruits will be absorbed in regular service after the completion of their four-year tenure.
The Home Ministry had then announced 10 percent reservation vacancies in central paramilitary forces. It had also notified that vacancies in Assam Rifles shall be reserved for demobilised 75 percent Agniveers.
The government had also announced upper age limit relaxation for the first batch of ex-Agniveers by up to five years and for the subsequent batches for three years. Apart from this, the ex-Agniveers would be exempted from the physical proficiency test.
The specified age limit for recruitment to paramilitary forces is 18-23 years, PTI mentioned in the report.
Accordingly, those who join the armed forces even at the upper age limit of 21 years under the Agnipath scheme can be recruited by the CISF till the age of 30 after four years of service in either of the defence forces and till 28 years for the subsequent batches.
