The snap poll, which sought to gauge public opinion on various aspects of the state's political landscape, provides valuable insights into how voters view the Congress government and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's performance ahead of the upcoming electoral battle that promises to be hotly contested.
Rajasthan Election 2023: Split Verdict On Congress Govt
In a concerning trend for the Congress government, the poll results indicate mixed opinions regarding the performance of the current Congress state government. A significant 42.1% of respondents rated the government's performance as 'Good,' while 16.9% considered it 'Average.' On the flip side, 41% expressed dissatisfaction, categorising the government's performance as 'Poor.'
Further, when asked whether they wanted to change the ruling government, a notable 49.1% of respondents expressed their anger and a desire for change regarding the state government led by the Congress. In contrast, 21.8% revealed they were angry but preferred not to change the government, while 29.1% of respondents reported neither anger nor a desire for change.

As the state gears up for the November 25 assembly elections, the snap poll also explored public perceptions of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. A substantial 43.4% of respondents viewed his performance positively, rating it as 'Good,' while 21.1% found it 'Average.' However, a noteworthy 35.5% of respondents assessed his performance as 'Poor.'
Rajasthan Election 2023: Familialism In BJP, Congress Nominations
The Rajasthan election battleground is witnessing an intriguing clash between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Both parties have nominated candidates who have familial ties or belong to prominent political families, showcasing the prevalence of dynastic politics in the state. Of the 200 assembly constituencies, the BJP has announced candidates for 124 seats, while the Congress has put forward nominees for 95 seats.
The BJP's list includes 11 individuals with family ties to prominent leaders, news agency PTI reported. Notable candidates from political families include Ram Swaroop Lamba, the son of the late MP Sanwar Lal Jat, and Shailesh Singh, the son of the late former state minister Digamber Singh.
Similarly, the Congress, in its three lists of 95 candidates, has fielded 18 individuals with political backgrounds, aiming to bolster its chances in the upcoming elections. Notable Congress nominees with familial connections include Sachin Pilot, the son of the late Union minister Rajesh Pilot, and Divya, the daughter of former minister Mahipal Maderna.
The prevalence of dynastic politics, as evidenced by the nominations of candidates with familial connections, stands in contrast to the parties' previous stances against this phenomenon. Senior leaders of both the BJP and Congress have criticised dynastic politics in the past, labeling it as a challenge to democracy.
Notably, Congress in-charge for Rajasthan, Sukhjinder Singh Randhwara, expressed concerns over dynasty politics within his own party, emphasising the need for senior leaders to eschew familial favoritism in politics, PTI reported.
