With the assembly election schedule recently unveiled for five states - Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram - the countdown to the polls has officially begun. The polling is set to commence on November 7 and conclude on November 30, with voting taking place in a single phase in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram, and in two phases in Chhattisgarh. As the election season heats up, ABP News, in partnership with CVoter, has released findings from a snap poll, providing insights into the mood of voters in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.
The snap poll sought to gauge the public's perception of the election "guarantees" made by the Congress party. These "guarantees" include promises such as a caste survey, exemption in electricity bills, and raising demands for OBC reservation in the states.
The Congress Working Committee, which met on October 10, announced that if voted to power, it would remove the 50 per cent ceiling for reservations for Schedule Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and OBCs.
The question that emerged was whether voters believed that the Congress party would reap electoral benefits from these promises.
In Rajasthan, those who believed the promises would benefit the ruling party considerably accounted for 40.1% of the electorate. This group comprised 23.7% of BJP supporters, 55.5% of Congress supporters, and 41.6% of others.
A smaller segment, constituting 26.0% of voters, thought these promises would benefit Congress to some extent. Within this group, 29.9% were BJP supporters, 21.2% were Congress supporters, and 27.7% belonged to other parties.
Meanwhile, 29.2% of voters believed these guarantees wouldn't benefit Congress at all, with 43.2% being BJP supporters, 20.0% Congress supporters, and 21.2% representing other parties.
Lastly, 4.7% of respondents couldn't definitively say how these promises would impact the election outcome.
In Madhya Pradesh, a significant portion of voters, totaling 52.4%, believed that the Congress's promises would substantially benefit the party. This group encompassed 32.0% of BJP supporters, 74.9% of Congress supporters, and 47.5% of others.
Meanwhile, 22.1% of voters thought the promises would bring some benefit to Congress. Within this category, 32.5% were BJP supporters, 12.1% were Congress supporters, and 21.3% represented other parties.
A slightly smaller segment, constituting 19.2% of voters, believed these guarantees wouldn't benefit the grand old party at all. Among this group, 29.9% were BJP supporters, 9.5% were Congress supporters, and 16.9% belonged to other parties.
Finally, 6.3% of voters expressed uncertainty about the potential impact of these promises.
In Chhattisgarh, 41.8% of voters believed that the ruling party would significantly benefit from its promises, including 23.1% of BJP supporters, 55.9% of Congress supporters, and 42.5% of others.
Another segment, comprising 28.9% of voters, thought the Congress would gain some benefit from these promises. Within this group, 36.7% were BJP supporters, 22.9% were Congress supporters, and 28.7% belonged to other parties.
Conversely, 21.8% of voters believed that Congress wouldn't benefit at all from these promises, including 33.2% of BJP supporters, 15.5% of Congress supporters, and 17.4% of others. Finally, 7.5% of voters were uncertain about the potential impact of these promises.
