Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday (October 15), without taking name, took a dig at Congress leader and Member of Parliament (MP) from Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, Rahul Gandhi, over the phrase used by the latter, saying when the entire country erupted in joy after India defeated Pakistan in the World Cup cricket match on Saturday (October 14), there was not a single word from “Mohabbat Ki Dukan.”
Taking to microblogging site X, previously known as Twitter, Chief Minister Sarma, said, “Yesterday, Bharat defeated Pakistan in the World Cup cricket. Entire country erupted in joy and celebrated the win. But not a word from “Mohabbat ki Dukan.”
After India’s thumping victory over arch-rival Pakistan, Chief Minister Sarma wrote on Facebook, “What a phenomenal victory for Bharat in World Cup 2023. 8th win against the arch-rivals Pakistan in world cup matches - an incredible achievement! The whole squad played like champions, making the nation swell with pride. Congratulations! Let's aim to lift the coveted trophy.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi while congratulating the Indian men’s cricket team, wrote on X, “Team India all the way! A great win today in Ahmedabad, powered by all round excellence. Congratulations to the team and best wishes for the matches ahead.”
During his “Bharat Jodo Yatra,” Rahul Gandhi had allegedly accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government of spreading hatred. The former All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief had allegedly said that he wanted to open a “shop of love” in the “market of hatred.”
India maintained their record against Pakistan in Cricket World Cups 8-0 as they beat Pakistan by seven wickets in Saturday’s match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
