Kejriwal Govt Vs LG: In Delhi, there is once again a clash between the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and the Lieutenant Governor. In fact, Delhi LG Anil Baijal held a meeting with officials on the latest situation on Covid, to which CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted strong objections.

CM Kejriwal said holding such meetings behind the backs of an elected government is against the constitution and the Supreme Court's decision. He appealed to the LG to respect democracy.

Why was Kishore convicted?

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal held a meeting to review the situation and preparations of Covid in Delhi. "Reviewed the status and future preparations of Covid in Delhi with the Chief Secretary, ACS (Home and Health), Divisional Commissioner, Secretary (Health), MD-DMRC and other concerned officials," Delhi's LGP official Twitter handle said.

CM Kejriwal strongly objected to the meeting.

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "The Decision of the SC CB to hold such parallel meetings behind the bench of the elected government is against the constitution ". We are a democracy. People elected the Council of Ministers. If you have any questions, please ask your ministers. Avoid having direct meetings with officials. Respect democracy, sir."

AAP Govt Or LG, Who Actually Rules Delhi?

The government in the country's capital Delhi now means Lieutenant Governor. This is because Central government notified a bill passed by both The Houses in April this year which then got President's approval. The implementation of this bill clearly means that if the Delhi government takes a decision, it cannot be implemented without the approval of the Lieutenant Governor.
