AAP Launches Tirade Against Punjab Congress Chief Sidhu Over Poll Promises, Says 'Stop Acting Like Opposition Leader'

The co in-charge of AAP's Punjab unit went on to allege that Congress has "craftily" removed the 2017 manifesto from its official website.

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha on Friday questioned Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu over his recent statement criticising the state government.

The AAP spokesperson asked Sidhu to stop acting like an "opposition leader" and deliver on poll promises.

"With the strong patronage of Congress High command and equivocal vocal support of the MLAs i.e. the entire legislative party and the faith of your party cadres/workers you are the undisputed leader of the ruling party of Punjab. You are for all practical purposes the government and you are the party in power. It will not be incorrect to say in cricketing terms that you are the batsman and the bowler with the pitch being entirely yours," Raghav Chadha told Sidhu in a letter

"I take this opportunity to remind you and beseech you to stop acting like a leader of the opposition party. You are not the opposition - you are the ruling party, you are the Government of Punjab," he added.

The co in-charge of AAP's Punjab unit went on to allege that Congress has "craftily" removed the 2017 manifesto from its official website. He said that he has sent a copy of the same manifesto along with his letter so that Sidhu "can get it handily and be willing to implement the vast promises therein".

Addressing a press conference over the issue, he questioned: "Whose party is in power in Punjab now? Is it the DMK or the RJD running the government in Punjab? Sidhu Sahab, there is a Congress government in Punjab today", news agency PTI reported.

Imploring the Congress chief to "get over with the playtime", Raghav Chadha asked him to deliver on the 129-page manifesto, concluding that "otherwise, it will become clyster crystal clear to the citizenry of Punjab that your in-fighting and struggle within the Congress party was a fight for power and not a fight for the progress of Punjab".

This attack by AAP comes in the backdrop of Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu continuing to criticise the Amarinder Singh government. He recently questioned the Punjab government and police on their action and investigation in a Drug trafficking case, demanding facts about steps taken over it to be put out in a transparent manner.
