New Delhi: 26 people have been reported injured after 13 coaches of Bandra Terminus-Jodhpur Suryanagari Express derailed between Rajkiawas-Bomadra section of Jodhpur division at 3:27 am today, said the North Western Railways, reported PTI. An accident relief train has been dispatched from Jodhpur, it said adding that there has been no casualty, reported ANI.
“Within 5 minutes of departing from Marwar junction, a vibration sound was heard inside the train and after 2-3 minutes, the train stopped,” a passenger was quoted as saying.
“We got down and saw that at least 8 sleeper class coaches were off the tracks. Within 15-20 minutes, ambulances arrived,” the passenger added.
As per the Railways, a total of 11 coaches were impacted due to the derailment and higher officials have reached the spot.
“11 coaches were impacted due to the derailment of Bandra Terminus-Jodhpur Suryanagari Express train. No casualties reported yet. Higher officials have reached the spot. Buses have been arranged for stranded passengers so that they can reach their destinations,” the North Western Railways said.
Higher officials are expected to reach the spot soon. General Manager-North Western Railway and other high officials are monitoring the situation in the control room at the headquarters in Jaipur, it added.
