4.8 magnitude earthquake hits Andaman Islands Region, no casualty or damage reported
A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Andaman Islands Region at 6:44 AM Monday. No casualty or damage to property has been reported so far.
Port Blair: A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Andaman Islands Region at 6:44 AM Monday. No casualty or damage to property has been reported so far.
The depth of the earthquake on the Andaman Islands was 95 kilometres.
Earlier on February 28, an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit the Nicobar Islands during wee hours. No reports of casualties or injuries were received. The mild tremors were felt 5.30 AM, the Indian Meteorological Department was quoted as informing by news agency ANI.
Earlier in January, an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale had struck the Nicobar Islands region. “Earthquake of Magnitude:6.0, Occurred on:17-01-2019, 08:23:07 IST, Lat:7.6 N & Long: 94.5 E, Depth: 84 Km, Region: Nicobar Islands Region,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) tweeted.
