India Coronavirus Update: More Than 30,000 New Cases Recorded In A Day, 606 Deaths Reported

Out of the total cases, 61,2814 people have been cured, while 33,1146 are currently active. In past 24 hours, 20,783 patients have been cured taking the recovery rate to 63.25 per cent.

New Delhi, Jul 16: India's total coronavirus cases have breached the 96,8876 mark on Thursday and recorded the highest single-day spike of 32695 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Out of the total cases, 61,2814 people have been cured, while 33,1146 are currently active. In past 24 hours, 20,783 patients have been cured taking the recovery rate to 63.25 per cent.
As per the health ministry, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with a total of 275640 Covid-19 cases and 10,928 fatalities as on Thursday. Tamil Nadu has recorded the second-highest number of cases with a tally of 15,1820 and 2,167 deaths while Delhi has reported a total of 11,6993 cases and 3487 deaths so far. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) a total of 1.27 crore samples have been tested in India for coronavirus till July 15, including 3.24 lakh on Wednesday.
As per the health ministry data, of the 606 deaths reported, 233 are from Maharashtra, 86 from Karnataka, 68 from Tamil Nadu, 44 from Andhra Pradesh, 41 from Delhi, 29 from Uttar Pradesh, 20 from West Bengal, 11 each from Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana, 10 from Gujarat and nine from Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, as per the Worldometer, more than 230,000 coronavirus cases globally over the 24-hour period were recorded. As many as 13,691,674 people around the world are infected with Covid-19, While more than 8,030,267 have recovered, 586,821 have died so far. The United States remains the most affected with over 70,000 cases in a day, taking its tally of cases to 3,615,991 and death toll to 140,105. The US is followed by Brazil, which has 1,970,909 cases and 75,523 deaths, and India (970,169 cases, 24,929 deaths).
