The Lok Sabha on Monday gave its nod to clearing the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Showing thumbs up for the bill, the Central government on Monday said that he GNCTD (Amendment) Bill has been brought to end ambiguity in running the affairs of the national capital.

While the centre appealed not to term the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill a "political move" since it will be beneficial for the people of Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has opposed the bill urging the government to take it back.

According to the bill, the "government" in Delhi means the "Lieutenant Governor". The GNCTD (Amendment) Bill also makes it mandatory for the Delhi government to take the opinion of the L-G before any executive action.
