NEW DELHI: Huawei's sub-brand Honor on Monday launched with its proprietary flagship Kirin 970 processor with "Neural Processing Unit" (NPU) that specialises in the acceleration of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms.


The device also comes with GPU Turbo technology which is able to accelerate performance by optimising the software and hardware resources for gamers.

"The launch of Honor Play marks the beginning of innovative technology with Kirin 970 and AI technology, making consumers shift from smartphones to 'Intelligent phones'. This will be the most affordable performance device with flagship specs available to the Indian consumer," P Sanjeev, Vice President Sales, Huawei India-Consumer Business Group, said in a statement.

Honor Play is equipped with 16MP+2MP Dual rear camera backed with AI technology for professional photography.

The AI camera technology adjusts the exposure and colour and the technology recognises 22 objects and 500+ scenarios in real time, the company claimed.

With GPU Turbo, graphics processing efficiency is improved by up to 60 per cent while overall chip power consumption is saved by 30 per cent.

Honor Play is equipped with 6.3-inch FullView HD+ 19.5:9 display that has around 89 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

The device has 3,750mAh battery which gives usage of up to 1.5 days and comes with EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 OS.

Honor Play will be available on Amazon India for Rs 19,999 and Rs 23,999 for 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant and 6GB RAM+64GB memory variant, respectively.
