New Delhi: All those hours playing video games have paid off for a 16-year-old! Kyle Giersdorf, of Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, won $3 million, which is around 20 crores according to Indian rupee, and became the first Fortnite World Cup solo champion. The competition took place on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. Giersdorf scored 26 more points than runner-up "psalm" to win the eSports tournament held at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens.
Giersdorf, who goes by "Bugha" in the gamer world, says "words can't explain it." "Everything I've done, the grind, it's all paid off. It's just insane," he said. The tournament offered $30 million in total prize money and saw more than 100 players compete over the weekend in duo and solo matches.

Fortnite is an online video game developed by Epic Games. Launched in 2017, Fortnite’s popularity has helped Epic Games reach a $15-billion-valuation last year.
