Food Poisoning: Over 30 Students Of Pune Institute Hospitalised After Complaints Of Stomach Ache, Nausea

The local administration has started an investigation and a team has also been sent to collect food and water samples for examination.

New Delhi: Several girl students of a training institute in Maharashtra's Pune have been admitted to a hospital and some among them are getting treated at the OPD level after a suspected food poisoning case, news agency PTI reported.

The incident occured after thirty one girl students of the Pune training institute were served food items for a Christmas party, after which they complained of severe pain and nausea.

"As per the information we have received, the girls had consumed food items made from paneer (Indian cottage cheese) for Christmas. On Monday, some of them complained of stomach ache and nausea," Pune district civil surgeon Dr Ashok Nandapurkar told news agency PTI.

"A total of 22 girls have been taken to Bhor sub district hospital. Of these seven are admitted and the rest are being treated at the OPD level. The remaining students have been taken to Sassoon hospital," he said.

As per the District officials, the condition of all the girl students is stable and they are under the supervision of doctors. The local administration has started an investigation and a team has also been sent to collect food and water samples for examination.

The training institute, located near Khed Shivapur on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, is a non-profit organization and offers a one-year free course in software programming to girls from low-income families.
