New Delhi: The country's capital Delhi reported 1,367 fresh Covid-19 cases on Wednesday and one death due to the infection, according to data shared by the city health department.
According to the data released by the Health Department, the number of active patients has increased to 4,832, which is the highest figure since February 10. The number of active patients in Delhi was 5,438 on February 10. Talking about the infection rate, it has been recorded at 4.50 percent on Wednesday.
Talking about the whole country, with 2,927 new cases being reported on Wednesday, the number of people who have been infected with the coronavirus in the country so far increased to 4,30,65,496.
At the same time, the number of patients under treatment also increased to 16,279. After the death of 32 more people due to infection, the death toll has increased to 5,23,654. While the number of patients under treatment for Covid-19 in the country has increased to 16,279.
The daily rate of infection is 0.58 percent and the weekly rate is 0.59 percent. So far, a total of 4,25,25,563 people have become infection free in the country and the death rate from Covid-19 is 1.22 percent.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of the states on this issue. After listening to all the sides, PM Modi addressed the states and told them what strategy should be adopted next.
PM Modi said that the way the cases of Covid-19 infection have increased in some states in the last two weeks, it is clear that the challenge of Coronavirus has not been completely averted, so the countrymen need to be alert.
"We have seen how Omicron and its sub-variants wreaked havoc in Europe. In the last few months, many countries have seen a surge in Covid cases, owing to these sub-variants. Compared to other nations, India has kept the situation under control," he said.
