Follow the space to get all the latest information and news from in and around the world on COVID-19.The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 170 crore landmark on Monday, the Union Health Ministry said.Over 50 lakh (50,48,778) vaccine doses were given till 7 pm on Monday.More than 1.52 crore (1,52,95,149) precaution doses have been administered to healthcare workers, frontline workers and those aged 60 and above with comorbidities.Delhi reported 1,151 new COVID-19 cases and 15 more fatalities on Monday, while the positivity rate rose slightly to 2.62 percent, according to data shared by the health department.With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,45,084 and the death toll climbed to 25,998, it said.Delhi on Sunday reported 1,410 fresh COVID-19 cases and 14 more deaths, while the positivity rate was at 2.45 percent.The number of daily cases in Delhi has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13.The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 percent on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic. It took just 10 days for daily cases to drop below the 10,000-mark. The number of active cases stands at 7,885.Meanwhile,  Mumbai on Monday recorded 356 new COVID-19 cases - the lowest daily rise after December 21, 2021- and five fatalities, the city civic body said.The tally of infections now stands at 10,50,194 and the COVID-19 death toll at 16,654, as per a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bulletin.Around 88 per cent or 313 cases out of the 356 are asymptomatic, it said.The case positivity rate of Mumbai has come down to 1.19 per cent.On December 21 last year, when the third wave of the pandemic began according to a senior official, Mumbai had reported 321 cases and one fatality due to the infection.A day before Mumbai had reported 536 COVID-19 cases and three deaths due to the infection.Notably, daily COVID-19 cases in Kerala dropped further on Monday with the state recording 22,524 fresh infections which raised the caseload to 62,93,907.The southern state had reported 26,729 COVID-19 cases on Sunday.Kerala on Monday also reported 860 deaths which raised the total fatalities to 59,115, according to a government release.Of the deaths, 14 were reported in the last 24 hours, 113 were those which occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents and 733 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the release said.With 49,586 more people recovering from the virus since Sunday, the total recoveries reached 59,32,609.As the number of recoveries were more than the new COVID-19 cases, the active cases in the state went down to 3,01,424, the release said.

Coronavirus Highlights: Delhi Reports 1,114 New Covid Cases, Mumbai Logs 447 Fresh Infections

The National Capital reported 114 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. While 12 people succumbed to the infection, 2,079 recoveries were reported during the same time. Active caseload stood at 6,908 in Delhi. 

 

Whereas, Mumbai logged 447 new cases of the Covid-19 and 798 recoveries were reported with 1 fatality in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the city were 4,783.

Coronavirus Highlights: Kerala Logs 29,471 Fresh Cases Of Covid-19, 28 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

Kerala reproted 29,471 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. During the same period 28 people succumbed to the infection in the state. The State Government said that 205 deaths which happened earlier were not added due to lack of documentation while 591 deaths were added after Central Government's new guidelines. 

"205 deaths which were not added due to lack of documentation and 591 deaths as per the new guidelines of central government were added to the covid death list," said the State Government.

Coronavirus Highlights: DCGI Gives Nod To Manufacture Vaccine Against Omicron

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved Serum Institute of India's proposal to manufacture a vaccine against omicron variant of coronavirus for examination, test and analysis, official sources said on Monday.

"With reference to your application, please find herewith the permission to manufacture SARS-CoV-2 rS Protein (COVID-19) recombinant spike protein nanoparticle vaccine (omicron variant) for examination, test and analysis under the provisions of New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019 to manufacture the test batches of the drug/drugs mentioned therein," an approval order issued on February 4 stated.

Coronavirus Highlights: Maharashtra COVID-19 Cases Drop Sharply To 6,436

Maharashtra on Monday recorded 6,436 new coronavirus cases, a steep fall of 3,230 from a day ago, and 24 fresh deaths linked to the infection, while 18,423 more patients recovered from the disease, the state health department said.

With these additions, the overall tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 78,10,136, while the death toll jumped to 1,43,098, the department said in a bulletin.

As per the bulletin, the number of recovered cases in Maharashtra increased to 75,57,034 after 18,423 patients were discharged during the day, leaving the state with 1,06,059 active cases.

On Sunday, the state had recorded 9,666 cases and 66 fatalities.

According to the department, till date a total of 3,334 patients infected with the highly contagious variant Omicron have been detected in the state. Out of these, 2,023 patients have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test.

The state's coronavirus fatality rate is 1.83 per cent, while the recovery rate is 96.76 per cent, it said.
