New Delhi: The Ministry of Health in its weekly media briefing on Friday issued a warning saying that though the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has started flattening in the country, it would be wrong to assume that the situation has become all safe as the 'virus has changed its mind.'.
Niti Aayog (health) member VK Paul while speaking in the press conference in New Delhi reportedly said, "If we again start doing what we were doing as a society in December, January, the situation can again go into a difficult phase."

Official highlighted that there has been a 68 per cent decline in daily cases from May 7, around 377 districts are reporting less than five per cent case positivity and only 257 districts are reporting more than 100 daily Covid-19 cases. He further said that 74,707 more recoveries vis a vis new cases in the last 24 hours; 32 states have recorded more recoveries than reported daily cases in the last 24 hours.
VK Paul noted that the significant improvement in the Covid situation across country is not happening automatically.
"This is not happening automatically. There are no crowds.. a price that we pay. But we have made it difficult for the virus to travel. But we have to remembers that when the peak is declining, if we start doing what we were doing in January, it will come back again. This is mathematically valid and also valid by common sense," Paul said.

He went on to say that every individial needs to maintain Covid appropriate behaviour in order to avoid the next wave of the novel virus. Though timing and impact of the can not be predicted as yet, experts are of the view that the third wave might impact children for which state governments are ramping up Covid care facilities.
