For students, it means they will be given a chance to appear for the exams once the conditions are favourable for examinations to be held. The board has announced the results on the basis of an alternate assessment scheme since the pending exams were canceled in wake of rising number of cases due to Covid-19 outbreak.

As per the four-pointer scheme, marks have been awarded on basis of marks scored by a student in his or her best performing subjects.

The board won't release a list of toppers due to exceptional conditions. Students who appeared for the exams amid the Covid-19 pandemic at the time when the disease started to raise its ugly head in the country proved to be a testing period. The overall pass percentage has increased from 5.38 per cent since 2019.

This year 7.35 per cent students have been put under compartment category which is lesser compared to 2019.  In 2019, almost 99,207 students were placed in compartment category, this year the number has come down to 87,651.

Students can check their marks online on the official website of CBSE. Apart from that, they can also view their marksheet on mobile apps like DigiLocker. CBSE has made an announcement saying that it will give digitally-signed copies of these documents to the students via DigiLocker App, which they may use to submit as part of their admission process for higher education since the pandemic has not allowed for physical copies to be made.

The CBSE had earlier sent an SMS to students to download Digilocker to access mark sheet after the results are declared.
