The Union cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the amendment to the National Policy on Biofuels 2018 on Wednesday. The amendment will now allow more feedstocks for production of biofuels, grant permission for export of biofuels in specific cases among others.
Congress leader Ganesh Ghogra sent his resignation as an MLA to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday, a day after a case was registered against him for creating ruckus in Dungarpur district, official sources said.
In his resignation letter, Ghogra said that despite being a ruling party MLA and the Youth Congress' state president, he was being neglected and his voice was being suppressed by local administration and officers. (PTI)

Two decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Firstly, the National Policy on Biofuels 2018 has been amended and a decision has been made to increase the production of ethanol. The cabinet has allowed to use more crops to increase production. The target of blending ethanol in petrol and diesel to 20% has now been raised to 2025-26 instead of 2030.

As heavy rains continued to lash several parts of Kerala, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an Orange alert in seven districts of the state for the day.
The IMD issued an Orange alert in the districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod for today.

Delhi Police Summons Rajasthan Minister's Son
A case of rape has been registered against Rohit Joshi, son of Rajasthan's cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi in the Gehlot government. Notice has been pasted by Delhi Police at Mahesh Joshi's residence. Rohit Joshi has been called to Delhi on May 18, and has been called for questioning at Sadar Bazar police station in Delhi.
A 15-member team of Delhi Police had gone to Jaipur to arrest the son of Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi. When the police team reached the civil line house, Rohit Joshi could not be found there, father Mahesh Joshi was also not found at his house. A 24-year-old girl had filed a rape case against Rohit at Sadar Bazar police station in Delhi.
Marathi Actor Ketaki Chitale Remanded To Police Custody Till May 18
A Thane court in Maharashtra on Sunday remanded Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale in police custody till May 18 after her arrest for allegedly sharing an objectionable post on social media about NCP chief Sharad Pawar, news agency PTI reported an official as informing. Chitale, aged 29 is a film and TV actress who was arrested by the Thane police on Saturday over a post she allegedly shared on her Facebook page criticising the NCP chief.
She was on Sunday produced before a holiday court which remanded her in the police custody till May 18, a senior police official said, as reported by PTI.
