Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has hit out at the NDA government in Bihar over the alleged BPSC paper leak saying that the way Ekalavya's thumb was cut off, the thumbs of the youth were being chopped off by paper leaks.

The Congress leader said that while the BPSC candidates are raising their voices against the paper leak and demanding cancellation of exams, the NDA government is resorting to lathi-charge on the students.

"I had said in Parliament that in the same way that Ekalavya's thumb was cut off, in the same way the thumbs of the youth are cut off by leaking the papers. The latest example of this is Bihar. BPSC candidates are raising their voice against the paper leak and demanding cancellation of the exam," Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X.

"But to hide its failure, the NDA government is instead resorting to lathi-charge on the students. This is extremely shameful and reprehensible. Playing with the future of students will not be tolerated. We are with them and will fight to get them justice," the Congress MP said.

Rahul's remark comes a day after chaos erupted during a protest in Patna on Wednesday over the alleged leak of a question paper of the December 13 combined preliminary exam conducted by BPSC.

The policemen lathi-charged a group of protestors on Wednesday evening as they tried to occupy the offices of the BPSC. The video showed hundreds of young men and women, chanting slogans and holding placards, flooded streets and traffic junctions.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also slammed the BJP over the police action, saying the ruling party's only vision is to save its chair and whoever demands employment is oppressed.

The police have registered a case against protestors in connection with Wednesday's incident. Meanwhile, the protesters claimed that several job seekers were injured in the baton charge, which the police denied.

However, videos of the police action against job aspirants went viral on social media with some showing personnel chasing and beating up protesters, including women.

Congress' ally RJD also hit out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and attacked the NDA parties in the state for accepting the CM's 'dictatorial decisions'

"Till a few months ago, the NDA leaders never tired of calling Nitish Kumar mentally unwell and saying that he was suffering from some serious illness, now the same BJP-LJP-HAM leaders are accepting his dictatorial decisions and justifying this hooliganism by getting the BPSC beaten up by the police. Nitish Kumar calls himself a self-proclaimed disciple of JP but hates the democratic protest of students. This is the condition of all selfish NDA leaders," RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said.

Meanwhile, Independent MP from Purnea Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav called for a Bihar bandh on January 1, 2025, if the December 13 combined preliminary examination is not cancelled.
