Nepal's Top Leaders Say 'No Need For PM Prachanda To Seek Another Vote Of Confidence'

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' will not need to seek another vote of confidence in the House of Representatives after the ruling alliance's Rastriya Swatantra Party withdrew its support for the government, the Himalayan country's top political leaders said on Saturday.


The decision was made by the ruling coalition's top leaders at a meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar, according to Hitraj Pandey, the CPN-Maoist Centre's chief whip.


Top leaders from the five-party alliance attended the meeting, including Prime Minister Prachanda, Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-Unified Socialist president Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Janata Samajwadi Party president Upendra Yadav. (PTI Input)

Madhya Pradesh: Ex-BJP Min Deepak Joshi Joins Congress In Poll Year

Deepak Joshi, a senior party leader and former minister in Madhya Pradesh, joined the Congress on Saturday, dealing a blow to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party months before Assembly elections. Joshi, the son of late chief minister Kailash Joshi, joined the party at the Congress headquarters in Bhopal in the presence of state Congress chief Kamal Nath.


Earlier in the day, Radhelal Baghel, another former BJP legislator, joined the Congress in Nath's presence. (PTI Input)

Delhi: Mayor Shelly Oberoi Conducts Inspection In Bhati Mines Area

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Saturday inspected the Bhati Mines area, alleging that the area had been "neglected" for far too long, but that the AAP-led civic body is committed to ensuring that residents there receive the amenities they deserve. During the inspection, the mayor, who was recently re-elected for a second term, expressed concern about waterlogging and the "dilapidated condition" of an MCD-run temporary school's ceiling, according to her office. 

Punjab: Police Conduct Drive Against Illicit Liquor

The Punjab Police conducted a statewide operation on Saturday to combat the sale of illegal spirits while also keeping a close eye on manufacturers of counterfeit spirits. According to an official statement, the operation was carried out on the orders of Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.


According to Special DGP Arpit Shukla, the operation was coordinated across the state from 12 noon to 4 pm. In the last two years, 306 police teams totaling 1,200 personnel raided 813 premises of 775 people involved in Excise Act cases, according to the statement. (PTI Input)

King Charles III Coronation Ceremony To Be Held Today


After becoming king of the United Kingdom and 14 other nations following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, King Charles and Queen Camilla will be crowned on Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey with all the pomp, ceremony, and sombre religious importance.


The kings and queens of England have been crowned in Westminster Abbey in London in rites that have changed little throughout the years.


With the exception of Edward V, one of two young princes believed to have been murdered in the Tower of London in the 15th century, and Edward VIII, who abdicated to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson, 38 monarchs have been crowned at Westminster Abbey.


Following a parade from Buckingham Palace, the coronation ceremony will commence at 1000 GMT. This parade will be shorter than the one for his mother 70 years ago, lasting only two hours, half of what occurred during his mother's coronation.


PM Modi To Hold MEGA Roadshow In Bengaluru On May 6


The BJP has planned a large 36-mile mega roadshow in Bengaluru on May 6, only four days before the Karnataka Assembly election on May 10. The roadshow, which is scheduled for Saturday, will be held in two sections throughout the Lok Sabha seats of Bengaluru Central and Bengaluru South.


"It was decided that the roadshow would be held on May 6 instead of May 8, which is a Monday." 


Suranjan Das Road - New Thippasandra Road - 12th Main Road - ESI Hospital - Domlur - MG Road - War Memorial near Brigade Road would be the itinerary of the first roadshow.


The itinerary of the second roadshow will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. in Bengaluru South. Bangalore South, Bommanahalli, Jayanagar, Padmanabha Nagar, Basavanagudi, Chikpet, Chamarajpet, Gandhi Nagar, Mahalakshmi Layout, Vijaya Nagar, Govind Raj Nagar, Rajaji Nagar, and Malleshwaram Assembly seats would be covered by the 26.5 kilometre tour.
