Ukrainian President To Visit Germany On Sunday:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy will be welcomed in Berlin on Sunday, according to German government sources quoted by Reuters on Saturday, as the leader seeks to rally key allies against Russia's invasion. On Saturday, Zelenskiy will return from Italy, where he met with Italian officials and Pope Francis.
The Ukrainian president last visited Germany in February of last year, just before the outbreak of the war.
Germany, Europe's largest economy, was chastised at the start of the war for what some saw as a hesitant response, but it has since become one of Ukraine's largest providers of financial and military aid, outpacing other European powers such as France.
Germany announced 2.7 billion euros ($3.0 billion) in military aid to Ukraine on Saturday, its largest such package since Russia's invasion, and pledged continued support for Kyiv for as long as necessary.
