SC To Hear Pleas Seeking Legal Validation Of Same-Sex Marriages On March 13
On Monday, the Supreme Court will hear a batch of petitions seeking legal recognition for same-sex weddings.
According to the cause list posted on the Supreme Court's website on Monday (March 13), the petitions will be heard by a bench comprised of Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and justices P.S. Narasimha and J.B. Pardiwala.
On January 6, the Supreme Court consolidated and transferred to itself all such applications pending before several high courts, including the Delhi High Court.
It had stated that the counsel representing the Centre and advocate Arundhati Katju, representing the petitioners, would work together to establish a single compilation of the written submissions, documents, and precedents on which reliance would be put during the hearing.
SKM Declares Statewide Stir On March 13
The Punjab chapter of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced that on March 13, it will burn effigies of the Union government in all districts of Punjab to protest CBI raids at the homes of two SKM leaders. In addition, on March 20, the BKU will organise a rally near Parliament House in Delhi to lobby for the remaining demands.

The CBI examined different premises of BKU president Ajmer Singh Lakhowal on February 21 as part of their statewide search. A gas pump in Samala, his son Harinder Singh Lakhowal's residence in Mohali, and assets belonging to Indian Farmers Association president Satnam Singh Behru, who lives in Patiala, were among the properties searched.
Harinder Singh Lakhowal is the general secretary of the BKU's Lakhowal unit, and his father was the chairman of the Mandi board from 2012 to 2017.
